Anyone fitted 6 watt halogen bulbs in the front sidelights?.....wondered if there was any heat/ plastic lens issue?

No but I fitted warm white LED versions....they are available on eBay. Brighter than std bulbs. Lower power and almost no heat. Lovely warm white so look period unlike the cool white ones....the way to go in my opinion.

I found some LED bulbs that fit. They have 28 LEDs o them and are almost as bright as the headlamps! (Minor exaggeration)

I like them as they work well as driving lights in low light conditions.

No good for interior fitting as they are way too big.

Sorry for the late reply, but to answer the original question, I have had 12v 10w halogen bulbs fitted since 2002 as my front sidelight bulbs with no heat issues or effects on the plastic light lens on my Series 1 FHC.

I just removed one of these tonight to check the wattage and they were an RS Component part number 196-0751, but looking on their website they appear to be a discontinued item. I believe the correct term is a BA9s bulb. I can confirm that these give a much brighter light than the standard 6w filament bulb.
Regards,
Dave

I have struggled to find the bulb fitments for each of the exterior lights on the car (an S2). All the manuals I have plus the KB here don't tell the original bulb fittings, So I am nervous to order leds. I haven't had the car for a few months so difficult to check.

Is there anywhere that they are listed? Otherwise I'll just wait till I get her back and check them.

Received the 'warm' LED bulbs as Cactusman advised-they, indeed, are brighter and more akin to the original light. Good upgrade without too much 21st century bling!
