#1 Heater / windscreen interior fan stopped working

Post by Keith in Norfolk » Fri May 26, 2017 7:13 pm

As the title says my interior fan has suddenly stopped working.
I have noticed that when I hit the switch the wires that connect to the fan in the engine bay get very hot.
Is this the fan motor burnt out or another problem like fuse or maybe the switch itself ? :questionmarks:

sounds like the motor is either stuck or shot. without turning it on take off the screen grid above the fan and try rotating it. it should move freely. if not then the motor is where I wold go next.
if the wires get hot then it would stand to reason that fuse #6 has not blown and the switch works, however leaving it on like this will surely either blow the fuse, destroy the switch or melt a wire.. or two.

the fan has a resistor in series when on the low setting to make it spin slower, that will get hot, but the wires should not.
