Door cards or panels
#1 Door cards or panels
Does anyone know the difference between the hardboard door panels for S1 OTS and S1 FHC cars.
I have seen some untrimmed OTS panels for sale and wondered if they are really the same as for FHCs.
I know Jaguar had different part numbers for both but maybe the differences were very minor and the OTS ones could be adapted?
Just in case you are wondering, the main suppliers, both parts and trimmers, don't seem to sell untrimmed items.
Thanks
steve

Hi Steve...can you not make your own.....or do you not have any to copy....if you do then thin mdf is ideal....i made mine and cut them 1/8 shorter on the bottom edge.....you see so many newly trimmed cars where the door card pushes into the sill covering and leaves a long dent in it

Hi Steve
I have bought some 5mm MDF so will probably go with that.
Because my old cards aren't original I'm not sure how good they are as templates.
The OTS cards I saw for sale were only £20 so good value I thought if they would fit.

Hi Steve...i think you will find that 5mm is too thick.....i used 3mm.....thats the same as my original S2 2+2 which were 3mm......also the vinyl is slightly thicker than the original....mine from Martrim is thicker than the original..if you could find someone local you could trace them whilst they are on the car
Ps with thicker cards you could have problems closing the doors

Thanks for reminding me.
It was my mistake saying 5mm, the board is 3mm as you suggest.

Steve,
I traced replacements from the deteriorated originals - just a wee tiny bit too long towards the door striker.
As Steve mentioned better 1/8" less material on the bottom, and the rear.

I could use some guidance on what is involved in removing the door cards on an S2 OTS?
There don't seem to be that many screws on show!
Thanks

Hi Steve, they should just be cliped on and pulled off, no screws.....lift an edge you should see the spring clips, lever the card off.. Steve

there are screws. Hidden behind the chtome strips. Carefully slide for/aft, they will show. Also you must take off the grab handle, if present.

There should also be 2 countersunk slotted screws under the chrome strips (around the middle of each one)

Thanks guys
I have ordered a special door card tool, so I will give it a go when it turns up.

My card had lost its special screw no 22, so I only had to remove the handles and then unpop the 10 spring clips (using the special tool).
