Unidentified object under dash

Hi all -anyone know what this yellow device is? Photo is reference shot prior to stripping down, I’m now re assembling and am yet to learn its purpose! Any thoughts would be appreciated can’t find anything on it!

It is a guess, but it looks to me as though it could be one of those anti-theft devices which emits a loud ( in fact deafening ) screeching noise . It is worth trying to trace those two wires back to their source

Thanks guys. On the wiring, looks like one side goes to purple black which I think is dash lights (not checked diagram just seem to remember this being the case). And the other to earth so looks like footwell light, although the weirdest one I’ve ever seen!

Cancel that it’s not dash lights purple black is horn related, but I don’t think it’s the button it certainly doesn’t depress or switch as far as I can tell. Might just get rid and move on..

Another one of the joys of car restoration--trying to decipher some previous owner's "better idea." If it's not a horn button, I would remove it from the car, place it on the bench, and put 12v through it to see what happens. It'll do one or all of three things: light up, smoke, or just sit there.

If it's connected to the horn then it could be an alarm trembler.

That said, it looks like an air freshener I can recall from 30 odd years ago. Can't remember it having any electrical connections though.

Must be a early version of plug in perfumes! Not heard of an alarm trembler, what’s it purpose?

It's a GPS wife tracker

An alarm trembler is a device that senses movement of the car and sounds an alarm. Popular back in the day before modern PIR type motion sensors. They often employed mercury switches, not very politically correct these days. Some used a steel ball.
