Here is so more information on our car. It might be of some help.

Briggs swapped out the original engine after LeMans for a lightweight version in the 60's. I am searching through our archives to see if I have any exact data on this. Unfortunately of the three E-Types Cunningham owned, they were not documented very well. I do have countless photos, so if you get stuck in an area, I would love to try and help you out. just let me know.

1962 JAGUAR E-TYPE
Chassis No.: 860630
Engine No.: R5909-9

Thanks very much for the info and pictures. I'm sure these will be of great value as we proceed. Currently my car is in Pennsylvania at the restoration shop (and I am in South Carolina). So I don't have the benefit of checking details currently. I will follow up on the pedal box and other queries when I can.

You fellows were correct about the pedal box. The PO had a knack for scavenging parts, apparently without being mindful for year-to-year variances. So the 4.2 pedal box will get removed eventually so that we can mount a proper dual MC. Same sort of explanation for the other alloy pieces you see.

Had a chance to spend a day up in Pennsylvania with the car and my builder. I normally do most of the work myself, but am working with a builder this time to shrink the learning curve. Plus he's very good. Anyway, we had a few questions:

My reading of the FIA regs indicates max compression ratio of 10:1. Can this really be true? I can't imagine the top FIA euro racers are anything less than 12.5:1.

Is anyone aware of an off-the-shelf racing seat that works well for taller drivers in the coupe? The Kirkey's don't take up a lot of space, but hoping for something a little more classic for this. It needs to sit low and as far back as possible, even after modifying the rear bulkhead. I've used GTS Classics before and my need to go with a custom seat from them.

Thanks!
