Hi all,
What a very good idea!!!
I participate to many land rover gatherings the past ten years, coming from a forum, and organize each year a gathering for a french jaguar mk2 forum. I must say that virtuality on internet forum is good, but to know the faces, exchange some words and take a (some) drink (s) add something more on the forum: the mood become more friendy (even if, that's yet the case on this forum :) )and the "souvenir" of the gathering create something...
For all that reasons, and also because I would't want to miss the first one, I really would want to come (like Simon P, my first motivation will be Kayslee collins, but don't say it... I've just to give back, her door mirrors) not with my e type, but like Simonphc and Se Johnson, (I could bring some RainX....)
But at the moment and untill the last moment, for a reason I will explain to Andrew by mp, I may not confirm definitively.

Andrew

If you would like? I could ask a professional photographer (who is a friend of mine) to come along and take some magnificent images on the day. He is a car fanatic and wouldn't charge. I'll sound him out anyway just in case he is not available on that date?.

I don't know if you know the facility at BH? but they have space to the side of the airfield and away from the crowds and I could ask if we could all move there at some point to get some prime shots?

seems like a plan, but i think we better not ask yet. I have asked for prime parking for us, and I don't want to upset anything as they move us away from the action. To be frank, I think he will get plenty of good shots around the site anyway.

Ah welcome to the Forum, Trevor. I have already added you to the list. we should have a fun run up from Kent, but bear in mind you may have difficulty keeping up with the 3.8 in your 4.2

If you can persuade enough people to follow a common route or two, then you could turn this into a mini-rally by plotting a course over B roads only for a large part of the journey.

kind regards
Marek

The weather is beyond awful. It is swirling and tipping it down here in Hemel.. Mercifully no serious floods in Herts. Let's hope things have improved by April.

On a brighter note this has really taken off. Looking forward to seeing a lot of E types and their owners on the day.

I'll have to openly admit that I am a hopeless case with regard to the Etype, it was one of those (what were you doing when Kennedy was assassinated) moments.

Well my father brought home the Autocar magazine covering the Geneva launch in March 1961, I still have that magazine but as a car mad impressionable 8 year old I recall clearly the excitement, not least my own, time has not dimmed.

Of course the car '9600HP' was shown in the Park during its unveiling to the journalists at the Geneva Motor Show, with Sir William Lyons standing proudly at its side, and for those who have yet to read 'The Most Famous Car in the World' by Philip Porter (who now owns the car) theres a treat in store.

I thought why not send a heads up to PP regarding the Bicester Heritage meet with 9600HP, he has just confirmed that he will attend! How marvellous is that? it will be just 55 years and a handful of weeks since the day?

Any chance we could neatly bracket things by getting one of the last Commemorative V12s? Doesn't Jaguar still retain the final, final car just up the road from Bicester at Gaydon?

the latest update for you all
Hello Andrew,

Thank you for your email, it?s good to hear you have so many cars coming already and we will be happy to accommodate many more. The tickets should be going live on the 15th of January or just after, thank you for advising your members to book via the club members option.

Yes there will indeed be coffee and bacon butties available for purchase when you arrive, our caterers will be set up in advance of the gates opening at 9am.

Detailed planning of which club will be parked where has not yet taken place but in general the club display areas are on the airside section of our site where there is plenty of space. If you are familiar with the site and have any particular requests regarding location please let us know and we will try our best to help. I have attached a map of the site, vehicles access via the West Gate off the Buckingham Road and car club display areas are usually along the apron between the large hangers and the airfield.

We look forward to seeing you all here and hope you have a very enjoyable day.
Best regards
