Sprayed Wheels

Just looking for similar aged cars to get a rough idea for valuation and found this one

Did they all have dull (sprayed) wheels as standard and chrome was a tick in one of the extras box

Painted wheels look great IMHO and were standard. The chromed wheels were an optional extra.

Great news on the car, pity you couldn't get a Series 1 4.2 though. Still, I've no doubt you'll learn to live with it!

You are right (I was just trying to stir up the old 3.8 vs 4.2 'argument' but failed).

Any good E T ype is great fun on so many levels whether it be cleaning it after a long run, driving it fast on motorways or green laneing. Or even just looking at it when you can't drive it.

BTW my first E Type in 76 was a 1964 3.8 FHC. Got married in it - still got the wife but not the car any more.

76 was a hot summer for a FHC..

At 22 I was driving a 205 GTI think I must of been doing something wrong :)

think mine was between 3 +4k I think.

It's amazing what these cars first sold for an then how the prices have gone up. I saw one the other Tuesday and it was bought 17yrs ago for ?5850 from the local butcher...

Then the guy I'm buyingmine off used to own lightweight 2 GXO he paid ?5k for it and after racing it and having it in Birmingham museum he sold it for ?36k not sure what year, but he said he is now kicking himself ....
