Track rod end replacement
#1 Track rod end replacement
Have just replaced the o/s steering rack boot and track rod end. Putting a new example of SNG's finest track rod end back on , I tightened up the bottom nut which would only go so far ; it clearly needed to be loaded before tightening further, so I took enough weight off the jack to let me tighten it; then dropped the car to the ground and tightened the nut as much as possible. Is this correct - I'd rather be safe than sorry :drive:

Harry,
You did OK ! You still can check them with the car on the floor to be sure to be sure !
And you don't need to overtight the nuts, If you cannot move the spanner anymore, you are good !!
And you are right too when you said that they needed a bit of preload before doing the nuts.
