#1 wiring questions

Post by Boron » Tue Jul 23, 2019 8:53 pm

In trying to get things functioning like my fan motors, windshield wipers, and horn, I have been playing with fuses and such. Ran into a couple of wires that I have no idea where they go. The short red/green wire appears only long enough to attach to the windshield wiper switch but the female connector seems a bit large (center of picture) for that switch (remember, windshield wipers don't currently function.)

Then, I found this purple/brown wire coming from fuse 8. It has an inline fuse too but it isn't connected to anything.

Any help would be appreciated.

One last thing, one of my fans is working but the other isn't. Could it be the relay?
Oh, and my horns don't work although fuses seem to be fine.

An observation. The wire you mention has a non original connector on it, and it looks like there is a similar wire/connector attached to fuse 7 which has green wires that provide fused power when the ignition switch is on. It may be something extra put in by a PO.

Red green (RG) is the colour used for the brake fluid light/handbrake light. And green red (GR) is the colour for the left hand flashers. Neither of these should be where this wire seems to be.

Thanks. I agree that PO might have wired something in there and then took it out.

The red wire with the light green stripe appears to be original since it emerges from a bundle of wires wrapped in electrical tape. It is extremely close to the windshield wiper switch. But it doesn't
"snap on" the connector the way it should. Seems to be a bit larger.
