#1 Hello from Malaysia

Post by I-Wen Foo » Sat Mar 13, 2010 10:19 am

Hi Everyone,
I've been following this forum for a while now, and I thought I had better get round to joining in, especially as my restoration project is slowly taking off...
My car is a 1962 3.8 FHC which I bought here in Malaysia, back in 2007.
You've got a great site going!!
Best wishes, I-Wen[/i][/b]

Welcome to the Forum I-Wen

I hope you find it informative and useful, it would be good to see some pictures of your project when you get a chance.

Hi, I-Wen Foo.

I also have a '62 FHC. Mine's a British spec RHD which I've had for about 30 years and restored myself about 10 years ago.

What number is your car? Mine is 860320 , about April '62 and you can see some pics here for comparison:

Good luck with your restoration.

Thanks, Christopher.

Looks like we might be getting an early spring over here so I'm just waiting for the salt to be washed away so I can get to drive it again.

Anyway, for I-Wen, it's nice to see another early Coupe being restored. In many ways they are quite different from other models, even from the later 3.8s.

Hi,
Thanks for the encouragement guys!

Clive, it's a RHD model, no. 860786, so slightly later than yours. That's a great looking car you have there! I'll be really happy if mine turns out anything close to that.

I think I'll have a ton of questions to ask as I go along...
Regards, I-Wen

OK, so you're outside the major FHC rear end changes that were made at car #860476. That will help if you need any rear end parts.

The hatch, the glass, window trim, rear fenders, lights, and maybe even the tail panel construction were all changed and the earlier parts are practically unobtainable. I wasn't so lucky.

Why not enter some information and maybe pics of your car on http://www.xkedata.com/
