Hi all
What were the original rear view mirrors fitted to early series 2 cars?
I have a plastic wingard one which has a broken dip switch and need to replace it
Its stuck to the windshield so I think its original but I don't know
Also what colour should it be?

How early? Mine's a May '69 bonnet-spring car and it's fitted with the plastic mirror with the dip switch. The colour is kind of a neutral grey.

The 3 captive nuts are still there in the header rail so you can fit the Series 1 chrome mirror if you like.
I did but cant get the sticky stuff off the windscreen !
Photo, but not my car...

My Series 2 roadster originally had the correct plastic, dipping rear view mirror. This was replaced for the earlier chrome mirror (for aesthetics), by my dad, back in the 70's. I wanted to get back to an original mirror last year - I know reproductions are available, but I wanted an original Wingard mirror with the correct logo. These are like hens teeth for an E-type, but I sourced one last year on Ebay, which was off a Ford I think. The mirror is identical, other than being cream, not grey. I simply took it apart and spray painted it an appropriate shade. Then end result was excellent, and may be an option for you. They are simple to dismantle.
