This has been for sale for a very, very long time. I'm sure I first saw it about 5 years ago.

The Car and Classic ad has had over 30000 views over the years.

Presumably, the magazines are reporting it now only because it's being auctioned?

Its obviously not useable on the road, but in a racing sense definitely yes --and as such should be celebrated as the extreme development of the E .
It's unfortunate though that it has not been run or had a shakedown in the last 8 years since it was put back together -- it's now 20 years since it's last race.

Note the dry sump ,bellhousing mod , gearbox sideways to lower COG

I sympathise with Jeremy's question and his implied view . This is really a "special" based loosely on E type shape and mechanicals . I remember it well from Malcolm Hamilton's days when it was undoubtedly both noisy and fast , but not in truth terribly interesting because in execution it was so far away from the real car - the slicks really tell you everything you need to know , as does the butchered interior with its strange supplementary longitudinal box section, and the completely altered rear suspension

From the pictures it seems very much an e type
Modified yes,but mostly e type
From the blurb it was a 1971 car
Probably more original e type still in it than most restored e types in peoples garages lol
So how much original car is still in one of these 100 grand plus cars?
Like that D type some years back that had less than 5 percent of the original car!
