#1 Handbrake Lever - S1, 4.2

Post by Phil P » Thu Aug 05, 2021 7:35 pm

I've dismantled the handbrake lever prior to rechroming and I could only extract the rod by enlarging the small window that is hidden by a u shaped cover. Hardly ideal and I'll need to reweld it prior to reassembly. The clevis on the end of the rod is bent and is the reason that I couldn't withdraw it. The clevis is bronze welded to the rod and appears to be a prior in-situ repair. Before I straighten the rod, should it be straight. Sorry, I can't post the photo.
Thanks,
Phil

Thanks Andrew.
I read the post before I started and I think that being able to slide the rod through the window assumes that the rod is straight. In my case, the clevis part of the rod is bent. I just wanted to make sure that it should be straight before I straightened it.
Yours,
Phil
