Front suspension - lower ball joint

Hi,
MOT advisory , play in front lower ball joint.
Advised by local mechanic to get sealed for life version CAC9937.
Now he has come to do the work he is concerned over the lack of originality in the look of the new item. Holding new item up against the old. Old item had grease nipple.
He also thinks he may have to shorten the 4 bolts.
He wants me to send back the part and get the older version. I don't want to do this.

Any helpers may have to look at page J.12 of Jaguar Service Manual or
Page 226 of the Hayne's manual.

My question is.................

Can the new ball joint fit into the old ball pin cap (numbered 9 in the diagram) and hence retain original look, with dummy grease nipple, and the same 4 bolts (numbered 12) ?

Nick standard mod that just about everyone I know has done. Sealed for life unit that does not need any servicing. Why would you bother fitting a dummy grease nipple? In your drawing #5 has to be removed to fit the new balljoint. What is the problem fitting shorter bolts?

I wanted to keep mine original but when I went to fit the new parts there was so much play even without any shims fitted.......utter crap.

Fitted the sealed unit.............Job done. Sod originality

Thanks for the advice.
Sealed for life ball joint fitted this morning along with new steering column bushes.
Much better manoeuverability.
Bushes needed heating in hot water but no reaming.
