The price of Chips

I was thinking I might take little ride out into Cheshire for a classic car show as I had little to do and nothing planned. Checked on the route and it was 50 miles away. So that worked out 100 miles return trip. Assuming my car will get me 25m/ gallon it is going to cost me circa £40 for fuel.
I decided it was not worth it for a classic car show were you see the same old cars as the last one. This classic car game is getting a bit expensive at the moment even allowing for free tax and low cost insurance.
Moan over I am just getting old, grumpy and tight.

Ps. Need to fill up the heating oil tank which has gone up from £900 to £2,500 over the last year.

Uh...the poor E type owner cant afford to fill up ....hope this dont go public Tony.....you will have everyone feeling sorry for us

I’ve made the decision to fill up the E-Type instead of feeding the kids this month.
Luckily, the roar of the straight-six drowns out their wailing.

I am thinking of Crowd Funding for the next fill up. I can see I am getting no sympathy here so might try the jag lovers to see if they have more sympathy. You are a bad lot

I have a solution. My E will be used as a “Prom Taxi” for a small fee. In return for taking a young person to their school prom in July, I’ll receive enough to fill the tank to the brim! All I have to do is polish the car and put on a suit and tie, and I’ll have 240 miles of free motoring.

Not sure how I’m going to fund the following tank full though. I could fit a roof rack and do an airport collection service perhaps?

The fuel light was flashing , so I thought I would bite the bullet and fill the tank - exactly £ 100 . I like a nice round number .
Had a bit of good luck last year - ordered a tank full of heating oil when the price was at rock bottom levels . Should last me a while , so now able to spend the savings on petrol

Funnily enough I was having a bit of a sort-out over the weekend, and came across some old petrol receipts from 2010/2011. Turns out back then I was paying just nudging £1.50 a litre for the high octane stuff, so I guess in real terms the current prices ain't all that different.

The sad thing is that back in lockdown they were virtually giving the stuff away!

Not bad, i used to get 6-7mpg out of my Mitsubishi Evo on track
