DHC fuel tanks

Has anybody bought a fuel tank for a drophead lately and if so any particular recommendations regarding supplier in the UK, or are they all pretty much the same? I see there are some galvanised options available, but I'm not that concerned about another 50 year lifespan, unless there are significant benefits...

Well, to answer my own post for the benefit of anyone else, I purchased a tank from Norman Motors in the UK. Excellent quality, and seems to have dropped in very nicely.

Hi Richard....just for info i hearx that SNGB had a huge shipment of tanks that they returned to the manufacturer for reasons im unaware of......just thoroughly check yours over.....Steve

Well, I checked and cleaned all the threads. All seems ok - I can't really check for leaks until it's in. I've spent all morning getting the front bracket bolt in, but alignment seems ok tbh.

Richard, do you have any way of blocking all normal holes and then applying a low pressure air to one of them? Soapy water all round the seams etc. should show leaks.
Or even fill with water, so long as it gets properly cleaned and dried afterwards.
Just an idea save having to take it out of the car again.

Andrew...this was a while ago. ....as far as im aware they were all returned befor being put on the shelf so no problem for customers.....however other suppliers may not have been so diligent so worth checking if you purchas a non SNGB tank..Steve

Ok, so my tank from Norman Motors is in (don't ask me how, as I'm really not sure...)

Assuming the sump seals ok, it should all be good - a bit too much paint on the sump threads, but all easily cleaned off. Always good to check these things before fitting.
