#1 1967 xke, relay alternator question

Post by autoalain » Mon Sep 23, 2024 11:03 am

Folks, where is this relay (alternator) located? (basket case ).. and does the 3aw relay needed for the alternator
to work, or does it just control the light. Thanks Mike.

Morning Mike, the alternator relay on my Series 2 is mounted on the left side in front of the heater, on the vertical face of the inner mud shield, two holes will be drilled and the relay bracket should fit here. The 3AW unit does control the warning lamp but is a poor item, very old technology and as new solid state ones are available well worth an update, you need to ensure that you do have the 11AC alternator and not a more modern replacement. This unit locates under the heater body on its own small 3 pin socket, If you need them I can take a couple of photos for you later today, best regards, John,

It is not needed for the alternator to work and it does just control the light.
