Horn brackets - colour/finish?

Hi there. Am just reinstalling the horns in my very early S1 4.2 (so early that it has some 3.8 carry-over parts) and was wondering if the horn mounting brackets should be body-coloured, black or plated? (Ours have been overpainted with Hammerite during an early "restoration"). Thanks, Rebecca

While I can't definitively state it is factory correct, my early 4.2 with 3.8 type horns, and which appeared to have never been painted, were a semi gloss black similar to other under bonnet bits.
