S1 4.2 headlamp bowls

HI there. Does anyone know the original colour/finish of the front headlamp bowls (not the sugar scoops) for the S1 4.2 (mine is very early, with some carry-over 3.8 parts). They are currently black with a kind of stone-protector finish but am not sure if this is original or something that was done during an earlier restoration (of sorts). Thanks, Rebecca

Rebecca, waiting for the more knowledgeable to respond, but are you asking about the outside colour of the headlamp reflector bowl?
I’ve been trying the search facility on two particular topics. If you look at Series 1 section it starts with factory fit for both the 3.8 and 4.2. If you go into them and search within each topic for headlamp you’ll get lots of returns (bowl doesn’t) one or two mention a colour. Maybe if you try that yourself you might get the answer you need.
