#1 Suspension Setting Tool

Post by tim wood » Thu Feb 24, 2011 10:23 am

Hi Guys, as I think I will need to dismantle and reset my suspension I am considering making a setting tool< anyone tried this before?

Do you think a home made version will work?
I,m thinking of a bit steel with a couple of accurately drilled holes. Am i being hoplessly optimistic ?

any help appreciated

Tim

Nope, Tim, no hopeless optimism here. I made one from a length of 1/4" X 1" aluminum flat stock. Two holes drilled in the appropriate locations and I had my fixture. All of the usual E-Type manuals give the proper dimensions.

I made it by using a piece of 2" X 1" planed softwood, and drilling the holes at the appropriate centres . Worked perfectly and a good deal easier to do than with metal

+1 I made a pair of them from lengths of angle iron.
