Rebuilding my 2+2 4.2
I am keeping the original exhaust manifolds but don't want the down pipes siamesed and them separated into the silencers
Has anyone found a suitable system that runs separate pipes the length of the vehicle off standard manifolds
Thanks
David

If it's an auto you'll he hard-pressed to avoid the gearbox sump.
If it's a manual just make up clamped or welded-on bridge pieces between the end of the downpipes and the beginning of the silencers.

Thanks
It is not an auto
Am I correct in thinking you buy the non 2+2 downpipes, 2+2 silencers and then get a piece of stainless to bridge the two
Any good supplier in UK for the bridging piece

Hi,
i had this made by etype fabs. I guess now that Calssic fabs would be able to do this.
in reality its a simple length of tubing

You could try PD Gough in Nottingham. They made me a s/s system for my OTS and a mild steel one for the FHC but ideally you want to go somewhere where they will make the parts up and fit them for you because you are going bespoke. Bear in mind you will need the flexible bits in the middle of the secondaries. I suggest a quick Google of 'stainless steel exhausts' and your town name to find a specialist, give them a call and drop by for a chat. Marrying up different systems can be a nightmare because the tube diameters can vary.

I would think every exhaust place in the country could do this.DT wrote: Am I correct in thinking you buy the non 2+2 downpipes, 2+2 silencers and then get a piece of stainless to bridge the two

They almost all have swaging/bending machines to fit practically anything to anything. Two nine-inch straights would be trivial for an apprentice, never mind a pro, and dirt cheap. Just assemble everything, measure the gap and the downpipe OD and silencer ID and go buy your bits if you can't trailer the complete car.
