#1 Rev counter drops out

Got a strange thing going on with my e type v12 while driving along after a few mins the rev counter stops working how ever if i press the horn button it burst back into life , works for a bit then does the same, after several pips of the horn it stops all together, i can stop the car turn it off re start it & it starts all over again anyone got any idears cheers john :idea:

Sounds as though it might be a bad earth on the instrument case. The horn button works by completing a circuit to earth, and the fact that this restores the reading suggests an earthing problem. The case is usually earthed with a black wire on a ring terminal attached to one of the " holding down " studs on the back of the case

Mine often does the same thing and a couple of taps on the dash over the earth connection usually sorts it :o

Cheers guys will possibly run separate earth to rev counter see if that sorts it out thanks for the replys much appreciated :)

Tried to have a look at rev counter, took it out still works when not attached to dash, so not sure if its an earth problem .
I put it back in drove for about 20 mins no problem, then it went off again tapped horn started to work went off and stayed off even after tapping horn
Came home switched car off then on and its started working again
Its bloody anoying any one got any idears :x
