Hi,
How can I find the correct Location For the Radius Arm Cups?
On my Tub They seem to have been Retro- fitted by the PO, and He welded a long Rope Around their Square base.
Now, I have to find Out wether this Would last Or if I Would have to re- do this properly, and- maybe more important- find Out their correct Locations.
Otherwise I think (???) the IRS Would run Miss-aligned to the body ?
We had a thread on this before, but it Ended in 2013 with no real answer, Except that one should Measure the Distance between the front and rear hub centred. But if There is a "pre-tension" for the Radius arms this Would not work...

Radius Arm cups - finding the correct Location ?

Hi Carsten,
Mine were done by Hutsons and are fixed on as per original with special huck rivets. As a belt and braces measure they also run 2cm of weld on the corners. The problem with just welding them is that you are only fixing them to the thin sheet metal of the floor rather than through to the inner strengthener which in turn is part of the front of the rear chassis leg. This is quite a complex area of metalwork. Monocoque Metalworks Web site have some excellent pictures that should explain it better.
My car is currently in primer up on a rollover jig so if you wanted any dimensions just let me know.

Okay, i checked their Website.
There is a stiffener on Top, then comes the floor, then the Cup part.
I have to make Sure that the Cup Part is welded Or / and riveted with Steel rivets through the floor and not only Attached to the floor.
I'll find Out more later, when I am Out in the shed.
What Would happen if I just Drill 4 Or more holes vertically through them, from stiffener down to Cup surround, and Weld that through ?
Short Word of warning: if You fitted the fuel pickup, but not the small sump nor the Filter, a VERY Sharp edged tube hungs out , and Moove the IRS under the car, you might Cut your Head (scalp).
Don't ask, blood did even run down in my eye....(stopped now+ healing). Will Tell the colleagues on monday in the office that There where Indians trying to catch me ....
