#1 Lucas Battery - Original style

Post by Heuer » Wed Jan 14, 2015 12:14 pm

Just received my 'Antique Auto Battery Inc' reproduction Lucas and it is indeed beautifully made:

They actually use a modern Odyssey gel battery inside the original style case so shipping is easy and it is maintenance free. It also does not suffer from corrosion problems from the +ve terminal. Comes with dire warnings not to unscrew the 'Lucas' imprinted caps and add water or acid  Interestingly it is slightly smaller than the Lincon or Fosseway classic batteries so it fits easily and sits perfectly without fouling the retaining straps.

Great people to deal with, superb packaging and prompt shipping. http://www.antiqueautobattery.com/

Note: According to AAB Inc only the early 1961 batteries had 'Lucas' painted in white, after that the logo was black.

They quote $260. Add to that $199 shipping + duty + VAT unless you can find another way to get it over here

I visited AAB last Wednesday to pick up the battery for my car. They are located in a very unassuming building on a dingy street in Youngstown, Ohio. The only way you know you're at the right place is their name in small white letters on the glass entry door facing the parking lot. The battery and paperwork were waiting for me on a chair in the lobby and the pleasant receptionist pointed me to it. Looks great.
