My two old horns did'nt work ! can y open them to resolv the problem ? Y tried to turn the screw but it does'nt change any thing ! when y connect the horn y just ear a little noise at the connection and then nothing
y Wonder if opening them by destroying the rivets is the rignt way ?

Just looked at your pics, your rivets are different. You might want to drill a Pilot hole then use a spotface cutter to remove the sead of the rivet. I would then either drill and tap the backs and use machine screws, or self tap.
You could also try spraying them LIBERALLY (i.e. half a can) of automotive contact cleaner/wd40, then turn them so that the cleaner passes along the snail until they get to the magnetic coil/slug. This _may_ diccolve enough of the corrosion that they start working.
Once you get them working again, If you never use your horn, start. I try to remember to honk the horn every time I am in a tunnel, with no other traffic. I live in Switzerland, so this, in combination with a crap Memory, means I use my horns about once a month.

Hi
Based on my own experience.....You shouldn't need to drill anything...the central single slot headed screw on the domed side is the only thing holding the cover in place
Maybe the cover is rusted in solid or glued in the old paint....so tap it some.....

Mine were in a similar state to yours. I just unscrewed the central screw & removed the dome & inside are the contacts which had fused together. A bit of cleaning up & they worked as good as new. I'd try that before drilling any rivets out.

Lataud, that's your first name by the way?
Looking at your pics, you are using too thin electrical wires for this horn. These are good for a telephone but not for a horn. Hence the current passing cannot properly energise the horn.
Try with thicker wires...

Interesting, I thougth the screwed on covers were way earlier than the E. I've only ever seen the riveted ones on Es here in Switzerland.
