#1 Another Torsion Bar question

Post by andrewh » Wed Sep 09, 2015 4:47 pm

I know I have done this all before but bear with me, it's my age!

Just stripping a car down and having difficulty getting the bars out. The reaction plate is not fitted . I have removed the thin bolt through the front wishbone and tapped the TBs as far forward as they will go before they foul the front wishbone. At this point they will not clear the rear mounting hole in the engine frames. The issue is that the TB lock brackets will not slide down the torsion bars off the splines and towards the centre of the TB, and will not clear the hole in the frames . I hope you follow that . Are they meant to slide down the TBs splines and drop loose onto the non splined parts of the TB? If not, ideas please!!

Ok, brain in gear now! Sorry cannot delete the post . If I lift the lower wishbone up the TB doesn't foul the wishbone. Drrr

Or you could just edit the first post to make it into a sunshine story about whatever fits into the original title. A torsion bare fairytale, and they all lived happily ever after.
