#1 LHD TO RHD Conversion - Pedal Boxes

Post by glennglenn » Tue Sep 29, 2015 4:21 pm

I am in the process of converting a lhd 1962 roadster to rhd, I have hit a problem; can someone tell me the easy way of removing the clutch / brake pedal box / brake booster from the bulkhead without completely dismantling it?

Well from memory, you will have to take the brake booster off the mounting, remove the nuts underneath and lift the pedal box off the bulkhead. Twist through 90 degrees and withdraw upwards. You will need to re set the angle of the pedals to reflect the RHD angles.

You MAY be able to do this with the booster still in place , I just cannot recall for sure.

The Kelsey Hayes booster will come off as a complete unit. Remove the pedal pads from the pedal shafts (they are bolted on). You will need to take the two master cylinders off first to give yourself room.

Once you have removed all the nuts on the various studs that go through the firewall you can lift it out.
