Hello to all from Germany,
i am currently doing a restauration of a ser 1, somebody else has started (i will never do that again, its really a nightmare) and i found out, that the car is a mixture of ser 1, 1,5 and ser 2 parts. parts which seem to fit at first sight dont do that anymore at a closer look.
So this is the question:is it possible to make a ser 2 wiper motor work with a ser 1 wiper toggle switch? or should i use another toggle switch (maybe for the heater fan motor or the switch for the instrument lights?)
Thank you very much for your help.
Best regards
Robert Schmidt

#2 wiper motor
I think you may be able to use the switch but the wiring of the later motors is different - they have an internal park switch for example - to the series 1 motors so you may need to do some thinking along the way. Good thing is there are fewer wires from the switch to the motor in the series 2 cars so your series 1 loom should have enough individual conductors even if you can't use the switch.
Hopefully someone here will already had come across your issue and has a solution.

#3 Its not easy
Yes, as far as i know, the wiper motors of ser 1 and 2 are totally different - the ser 1 motor has current all time and will work when get ground thru the switch, the ser 2 motor has ground all the time and get current thru the switch...
Hopefully maybe someone has a solution....
Any help will be gladly appriciated...

Yes you can do it - many of the restorers fit them to s! cars as "sensible upgrades". You need to wire the switch up the same way as the S2 cars. A matter of getting the wiper motor on the bench with a 12 v power supply. Personally I would connect it up with a S2 rocker switch to ensure you understand the operation. The get the S1 switch and connect it do the same. You will need both S1 and S2 wiring diagrams on the bench with you. Please take photos and notes as it would be a good modification to add to our Upgrade Forum!

Hello David,
i will do my very best...things are really complicated - it seems that somebody modified the ser 2 wiper motor , there are blue light green (shouldnt be there), yellow light green, red light green, green and black (earth) wire coming out of the motor - i have to dismantle the motor for better understanding i guess...
As soon as i know how it works i will post it in the forum...
Thenks for your help so far.
