#1 Lucas 22D6 distributor O-Ring

Post by Durango2k » Mon Apr 25, 2016 5:59 pm

Hi guys,

Could someone tell me the dimensions of the thin dissi O -Ring ?

SNG did forget to deliver it, so I decided to buy it locally- if I knew its size. The old part fell to pieces, sadly...

Here's an SNG link:

Carsten,

I fitted mine a week ago and unfortunately didn't measure it, however I do remember approx which O-ring I used from my assortment box that contains everything from 5mm to 50mm diameter. If I recall right I used the OD 24 / ID 19 O-ring. I'd initially tried a larger diameter (that looked to be a match to the old one) but the cross section was just a touch too thick, so it just would not go in to the engine block. So I tried a few sizes downwards, and chose this (24/19) one that needed a stretch to get it over the end of the dizzy shaft. And since rubber is incompressible, the stretch means that the cross sections goes a tiny bit smaller. It fitted just fine, a nice press fit.

The assortment kit didn't cost me much, and it paid for itself the first time I was stuck on a leaking plumbing joint in the kitchen. So each time I use it now it's free :D

Hi David,

24 mm outer to 19 mm inner is a thick one. I need the thin one. My guess is 22 mm outer and 1 mm rubber dia ?

I have a large assortment but nothing close...

I'm pretty sure the Distributor Doctor does O rings although I've just looked at his website and could not see them specifically mentioned . Worth a phone call perhaps

I think I'll include it in my next SNG order....and concentrate on the water system next.

And then, its eletrics to do. Which I fear.

Carsten : there's no real need to fear the electrics. Far and away the best book to have is the correct wiring book for your car ( probably the S1 4.2 which covers rhd and lhd S1 and 1.5 including 2+2) available from Coventry Auto Components ( sales @xkparts.com ) . This splits the diagrams down into various sections e.g. panel instruments, starting/ignition , fuel , lighting , signalling , ancillaries , engine auxiliaries , and fuse boxes , and makes it all easy to follow in large format . They are usually ? 10
