#1 Vinyl trim adhesive
HI All......just in the process of stripping out the old trim and been reading many of your old post on refitting the new.....my main concern is the hit and miss one chance use of contact adhesive......quite a few have had to pull out newly installed vinyl becaus of the instant grab with no adjustment..and others having to use numerous clips and pegs to hold things in place......what other adhesives have you used...i like the idea of cartridge type application and have used many instant grab adjustable types in tne building industry.......one type that comes to mind is the almost blue-tac like sticky adhesive used inside car doors to hold the plastic waterproof membrane in place, you can peel it off and stick it back on...but what is it.......A few of you have experimented fixing rubber trim but what about Vinyl...thanks Steve

Steve : I use the spray on adhesive which Woolies sell. It is very easy to get a consistent application over a large area, and does not set for some minutes so that repositioning is fairly easy . The door membrane stuff you refer to was not quite what used to be used, which was called " upholstery solution" and was , I think, water based , but whether you can still get it I do not know. Again, Woolies will tell you I would have thought

Hi Christopher..thanks for the reply.....have used the spray on before and have found that edges do have to be held down for quite a while....maybe its just me...the almost blue tac type adhesive i mentioned in used on fairly modern cars....it looks cartridge gun applied and like a non setting RTV ultr stiky..Its on my Jeep door membranes so if it can stick polythene to painted metal it looks ideal.you can peal it off and re stick it down....just looking for something more user friendly......will have to start experimenting....unless anyone knows of anything...thanks Steve
