#1 3.8 S1 Clutch and brake pedal - Springs

Post by E600 » Mon Nov 07, 2016 5:00 pm

Does anyone know if the 3.8 pedal housing should have clutch and brake pedal return springs fitted in the manner of later S1 and S2/3 cars?

I bought an incomplete pedal housing and there weren't any fitted, although the assembly had been stripped and loosely assembled, complete with 2 front master cylinders.

I have looked in the obvious places without success, youtube, google and looked on SNG's web pages which shows exploded diagrams, all to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Pat

The Parts Manual seems to say that they are fitted on LHD cars only. This makes no sense to me...

C19010, now C25506 for the clutch and C14366 for the brake.

Hi
Thanks for your reply

Having posted the same question on other forums it appears 3.8's had a number of options and two housing types.

Build date determined if they were fitted with standard E Type return springs, no springs or an external brake pedal return spring.

I have two 3.8 housings, and they are different, I have restored the later type and will fit the external brake spring but will also fit under the bulkhead an aftermarket spring to both brake and clutch pedals.

Regards
Pat
