Stratford Festival of Motoring

Hi everybody

The above event takes place in my home town, Stratford upon Avon in Warwickshire, over the first May Bank Holiday next year - Sunday April 30th and Monday May 1st. I am trying to encourage as many classic Jaguar as possible to take part, because this year Jaguar has been nominated by the organisers as the 'marque of the year'.

There are two distinct parts to the Festival. Cars are on display in the closed roads around the centre of town over both days but on both mornings there are optional scenic road runs to take part in. Entrants are split into two groups, with half doing one route on one day and then the other on the second. We don't know the exact routes yet but the glorious Cotswolds, which are on our doorstep, are sure to feature heavily.

The organisers are designating Wood Street, our broad, main throroughfare, where many of the main shops are situated, as 'Jaguar Alley'. It's not restricted to classics - modern Jaguars are welcome too, although I'm keen to see as many E Types as possible of course.

Stratford has huge amounts of accommodation, over 30 restaurants, many Shakepeare-orienated attractions and a lot more going for it, so if you want to abandon your Jaguar and go walk about while the Festival is on there is plenty to see and do.

Last year we had about 10.000 visitors pour in for the Festival, many of whom are keen to engage with the 300+ owners and find out more about their particular car. This enthusiasm, along with the street musicians, the optional entrants cavalcade around town, the various promotional competitions and the pedestrianisation of the town centre make for a unique atmosphere.
