#1 dash bulkhead wiring route 4.2 series 1

Post by andrewh » Mon Dec 12, 2016 8:23 pm

Just wiring the 4.2 and would be very grateful if anyone has some routing photos of the wiring looms once they are through the side bulkhead by the control box and upto the dash. The 3.8 does not have the alternator loom so this is new to me, and looks very long. I need to find the routing for that and the main dash loom as well as the internal routing of the main engine loom. Doubtless I can get there but I few photos would save me some bother. Thanks Andrew :swerve:

thank you Christopher, thats kind of you. However, where I am really struggling for photos is the dash board side. These things are always so easy when you see one all made up, but quite tricky when you have nothing to go on. Basically, both looms, the engine bay and alternator come through the bulkhead down by the control box. From here they run up under the A pillar on the passenger side and then run along the bulkhead under the fuse holders. This is where I am looking for detail, as you then have the main dash harness that fits on the drop down dash panel and loops around the other two as far as I can make out.

Andrew : sorry , I misunderstood what you were looking for. I think that in my resto pics I have some as I was dismantling the dash, so I will post what I have shortly

I hope these are reasonably clear to follow - unfortunately i didn't take any of the point in the left footwell where the looms come together, ***EDIT : OH YES I DID ****but the lh body loom connects to the rest in the lh footwell and then runs backwards along the sill, and the engine and bonnet looms also connect in that area and then go through the hole ( or holes in the case of the 4.2 ) in the lh sidewall

Andrew, in addition to the excellent photos from Christopher have you got a copy of Coventry Auto Components exploded wiring diagrams? They may help too:

Ah, good job you posted those, Paul, because I had forgotten about the conduit, which was missing when I dismantled mine

thanks Chaps, been off line for 48 hours so only just seen them. They are very helpful. I have ordered the book from Coventry Auto Components so armed with the photos and the book I should be good to go!

fingers crossed

Anyone recall from memory whether the interior light wiring extension spur connects behind the fuel tank side bulkhead or by just behind the rear boot spring? Hope thats a bit clearer than it sounds! Let me have another go. The feed for the interior light ( roadster) is on an extension wire that connects to main rear LH loom. Just trying to find out whether the connection is made behind the side of the rear boot effectively above the fuel filler pipe or up near the hinge ?
