Hi,

Just a quick note to say "Hello". My name is Clive Austin and I live in Worcestershire near the Shelsley Walsh hillclimb where I race single seaters. I recently purchased a S1 4.2 OTS reg LKE 200F. Currently black RHD but originally Carmen Red and LHD. The car was originally exported to the US in 1965 but then returned to the UK and was registered in 1967. I have some history with the car from 1989 at which time it was restored by Country Classic Cars in Warwickshire (no longer in existence). I would love to hear from anyone who may have come across the car, knows any of its earlier history or has any suggestions of how I might track it down.

The car is currently being fettled at CMC including paint and trim (changing to gunmetal / red). This will take a couple of months but I then look forward to meeting some of you over the summer.

Regards

Clive

Thanks for the welcome everyone. It went to the US in 65 Angus and came back to the UK in 67 so was registered here as an F.

You'll enjoy your E and with CMC working on it you won't have much to worry about. I also live over in Ludlow and was at the Shelsley Breakfast meeting this last Sunday- 1962 BRG Series 1 FHC. I also used to compete at Shelsley as well and even won the Gordon Bennett Trophy in my ex works TR3 a few years back. NIck J

I know the JEC are having a get together at Prescott on 22 May but are there any E type gatherings at Shelsley (other than at Classic Nostalgia)?

The first race meeting of the year will be 30 April/1 May. I'll be racing the single seater there. The last Jag thing was a talk on 11 March about the "new" light weight E Types given by the project director for the programme. Fascinating and well attended. Not sure there are any more E-Type specific Shelsley gatherings in the offing but there is the MAC Classic run on 24 April which might see some - although mine wont be ready in time unfortunately. There are usually some interesting cars around at the Shelsley breakfasts though and Classic Nostalgia weekend will see some really interesting vehicles - ie pre-war Autounions. At the risk of sounding very sad, the car parks are always worth a look too!

This is me with the single seater and the E-Type's predecessor at a Shelsley breakfast last summer (assuming I can get the picture post to work):

I went to Martyn Hollingsworth's lightweight talk too, so what are JLR going to anounce on 28 March - a batch of new D types?
