I cannot be 100% sure, but was the relay only on the 3.8 early cars? I may have that wrong but I recall when ordering my new wiring loom I was asked if it had the relay or not? Assuming it was not on later 3.8s did they delete it from 4.2s as well?

that of course is a 4.2 series 2 with the twin fans I assume. Cannot see a reference to a fan relay in the series one 4.2 parts book though?

Hello again from Germany,

thanks a lot for your replies - i saw it now, there is, for what reason ever, no fan relay fitted in the ser.1 4.2. That is strange, because the 3.8 got one and the later series 1.5 and 2 got one again....the (new) loom i have is from a series 2 i guess ( i am puzzling a kind of "bitsa"car together from a mountain of new and used parts....) Its awful sometimes, even if it may now at least financially makes sense, i will never do it again...

Best regards

Robert

It is a good idea to fit a relay.
