Suggest you stick with standard Boge or Girling shocks. I tried Koni's but they did not suit the E-Type at all and I never got around to 'adjusting' them. Be careful if you are considering lowering the car as it already has limited ground clearance especially where speed bumps are concerned. I has 225/65 section tyres (another 1" lower than 185's) and lowered suspension, and whilst it looked good it was a pain to drive with constant grounding over undulating country roads:

Everything has now been put back to standard and the car is a delight to drive, much quicker across country and through towns.

I tried new regular shocks at first but was dissatisfied with their performance. I changed them for a set of Spax which are readily adjustable by means of a simple screw dial and improved te handling no end.
Be careful about lowering the car. Most modern tires will do that for you anyway. I run 205/70-15s which are already much lower than the original RS5s (or the later 185/78-15s).
