Unidentified fitting on bulkhead

Does anyone know what this is??

It is on the bulkhead between the bracket for the rear engine stabiliser and the water valve for the heater, but I don't know what it is or does. The protruding bit seems to have knurling on it under the paint.

Ahh, please ignore this post. I just re-read the Haynes manual and discovered it must be the parking switch adjuster for the wipers.....

Should not be painted though as far as I am aware.

Same goes for quite a lot of things in this engine bay - one of the reasons I'm taking it apart, so the whole area can be improved.

Have you done anything like this before or is it a case of take a lot a lot of pictures as you go :)

take lots of pictures - but there will still be a vital one missing.

I find putting the camera on movie mode and slowly panning around can be a life-saver.

I've done plenty of this sort of thing before, and I love it. 911s, 924, Range Rover, Spitfire, TR7, motorbikes - just first time on an e-type.

I find good notes and sketches made during disassembly, labels attached to fittings and especially wires, lots of ziplock plastic bags with write-on labels and a good parts catalogue are all essential aids. I've not bothered with photos in the past, but with a decent digital camera now I am finding it very helpful and having to make far fewer sketches - although as Dave says there'll always be something I miss.

And it is so much more fun and less stressful when you don't have to have the car back together to go to work next day.........enough of that when I was younger!!

It is only a piece of bent tin - I'd say make your own, possibly use a larger stainless steel P-clip and remove the rubber and bend to shape.
