Trick to using this stuff, is to use a lot of it, then immediately take the car for a good run, say 20 minutes or so. That should do it. Been using it for years on my tubeless Daytons. Great stuff !

I was under the impression that once you use 'Fix a Flat' or similar run flat sealants the tyre can never be repaired using a plug and vulcanisation. Only puncture repair foams you can use and have the tyre repaired are the water based ones e.g. Tyreweld but cleaning the tyre for repair can be very time consuming and costly and tyre shops don't like doing it.

Nope. No problems. If you use a plug, or have to remove tire and patch, no problem at all.

Hi......Tyre foam should only be used as an emergancy get you home fix.......if you have it in your wheel it could mask a side wall split/puncture which are non repairable and have the potential for a blowout......Steve

That is completely wrong, with no basis of fact. But if it makes you feel better, don't use it.

I already have. Also, go back and read what was my original suggestion for using this product. Anyone buying a new set of tubeless wheels from Dayton, after mounting and placement on your car, a helpful hint is to spray some of this product in the wheel, and then take the car for a 20 minute spin . Why ?? Because new Dayton tubeless wheels, when first put into service, some, not all, have a tendency to leek a bit, not much, perhaps 2 to 3 lbs a week. I now own two sets of Dayton tubeless, 8 wheels, and it works like a charm. One can enough for 1 set of wheels. Just a cheep, convenient way to avoid an unnecessary flat on a new wheel and tire. Please read the entire thread in the future before you go way off topic.

Thanks for confirming the product ...In veiw of safety implications i do not consider it innapopriat to highlight to forum members the misuse of products that someone has reccomended..... I assume it is this make https://shop.fixaflat.com/collections/a ... pact-tires ...... as expected in the instructions for use it specifically states • Fix-A-Flat is a temporary repair. An approved RMA (Rubber Manufacturer’s Association) repair is recommended with 3 days or 100 miles......Steve

Good lord !!! All this fuss. Works for me with new wheels. Use, don't use. Simply not worth all this chatter.

Great if it works John but we are asking questions because 'Fix-a-Flat' does not appear to be available in Europe. We are trying to understand its chemical composition to see if the available products in the UK (Tyreweld, Slime) will work as you suggest.

Lets not get to scientific here boys !! Just a trick I use on new wheels only !! Not flats. I have used it for years, thousands of miles, never a leak. Use anything.

So, you never actually used it on a leaking wire. Pretty bold statement then, to state that it fixes all leaks, just empty the can and drive for 20 minutes.
If I ever have a spoke leaking from the rim, I might just try it anyway.

"So I never actually used it on a leaking tire " !!! Re-read please . I specifically stated that NEW Dayton tubeless wheels SOMETIMES have a tendency to leak, as much as two to three lbs over a week, perhaps. So once I mount a new set for the first time, I will spray all 4 wheels as a preventative measure. And yes, I have actually made it home, from time to time, by using it on a slow leak from a road hazard. Please read the posts carefully. "pretty bold statement " wow........Let me ask you, have you ever bought a new set of Dayton tubeless wheels ?

I have to stick up for MWS here as I switched a year ago to a brand new stainless steel set (6.0 x 15 72 spoke) shod with Pirelli 205/70WR15 CN12 Cinturato's and have never looked back. They have improved the ride/roadholding/looks over my previous set up and they are surviving the winter very nicely (I sealed them before fitting and now they are much easier to clean and get all the crap off them).
Not a cheap exercise at just over £700 a corner all in but boy what a difference and IMO definitely worth it

What did you use to seal them ?
I imagine on the outside and what was the work involved ?

I used Armor All Shield for Wheels which comes in aerosol form so easy to get into all the nooks and crannies of a wire wheel. Nearly 6 months and 2,500 miles later I have not needed any further application as a pre wash squirt with Bilt Hamber wheel cleaner, a go with the wire wheel brush, wash down then hosing down with clean water produces as new wheels. As I am a bit of a sado I do use a dryer on the wheels after hosing down as this is a) the quickest way to try them and b) avoids water marks. I use a pet dryer that works a treat!

I would add that the Armor shield also definitely reduces the build up of brake dust on the front wheels which is a bonus as sometimes all I need is the Bilt Hamber and the hose to get pristine wheels on the E Type and my other cars with ordinary 'alloy' wheels

Hi

Can I confirm that the 215 Tyres, when fitted didn’t cause any issues re the spare, as in fitted the well and still allowed floor to be refitted with no problems?
