With a little shaving of the rear fender and removal of the bump stops This is how 16x7 Minilites looks like with 225 50 16 in the rear and 215 50 16 in the front.

I think they look fantastic !! Must give you tremendous grip in addition. But don't you find yourself scrapping exhaust pipes on high curbs, or driveways ? Also, do you find yourself bottoming out on occasion ? 50 series tires are pretty aggressive in regards to ride height. I tried 60's for a while, some time ago, and even with car set at correct ride height, it bottomed out a bit. Again, they do look great !

Correct ride height with non standard tyres equals non standard suspension geometry!

With all then engine modifications she went through she really needed more rubber on the road. The handling on winding roads and hwy on and off ramps are a lot of fun, very sticky. I'm looking forward to a track day with the club in the new year. As for height clearance issues there's been non so far, the uprated 16inch rims fill the wheel well perfect (IMO). The over all tire/rim diameter decreased 7cm from the original set up. I have adjustable shocks all around so I can play around with that if any issues arise. If anyone would like to know the ride height difference give me some points and I'll gladly measure them.

Hi , please don't be offended ( we're all different ) I like the idea of more rubber and better gripping modern rubber . But I always find mini lites with the spin on adaptor in the middle a little clumsy looking . Like it's all to much for a delicate looking minilite . Just my two euros worth

I have high horsepower and also struggle with adhesion. More importantly I love the look!

Can you advise the wheel backspace you used on the 16 X 7? (surface of wheel that contacts hub to the inboard edge of the wheel)

Im guessing you added 1.5" to the inboard side of wheel and .5" to the outboard???

Also, what brand do you suggest for wider wire wheels?

I would suggest you contact Minilites UK and talk to Russel H. I think I was his first 16 x 7 build normally it's done with 15s. You can talk about the spacing with him.

As for a tire I went with the Firestone indy 500, 205/50/16 in the front and 225/50/16 in the rear, you can go 205 all around and then you don't need to touch the rear fender. Inexpensive and very grippy, smooth on the highway and loves winding roads..
