I think my stainless manifolds would cook an ox in 4 hours. It all gets very hot under there.

Full marks for the Fossway heat shield. I am sure it has been an important part in the overall reliability of my car.

We have been all over Europe in the hottest traffic jams and the quickest circuits.

No problems.

A good friend of mine made me one from titanium with a sheet of zircoflex sandwiched between the two outer layers.
There's no reason you couldn't make something similar in aluminium. The picture below hopefully gives you an idea.

David,
Just expressing my own opinion based on my own experiences.
I’ve driven my car over 60,000 miles, in this island and on the continent. I’ve driven it up the Alps, and down again, same with the Pyrenees, and the Highlands of Scotland. I’ve driven it in 40 degree heat, and along sub-zero roads.
Others may wish to heed your warnings, but after 16 years of finding no ill effect from not having a heat shield protecting my servo from the heat of the down pipes, I think I am justified in expressing those opinions to others on this forum.
Others must make their own judgements. And if I am honest they should pay more attention to your opinion than mine.

Well, fitted one now. What a pain! Nothing quite fits right. No way a lower bracket was going on - but it's secure with the top 2. Looks ok - just hope I've fitted it correctly!
It seems to embrace the servo, so hopefully doing a job.

Hi Malcom...looks the wrong way around to me and think it should fit to the inside of the frame.....like in the photo a few posts back....Steve

Don't think it is the correct part - it looks like the LHD brake bottles shield: https://www.sngbarratt.com/uk/#!/Englis ... 55f341ca4c

This is the one you want, part C26500:

It fits with the angle at the top, leaning over the frame and mounted on the engine side.

Mine hasn't got the LHD cut-out, and is RHD, but won't fit on the inside of the frame as per the earlier pic as it fouls the downpipes - think my downpipes might be fatter than normal? But if it was fitted with the bend towards the pipes, as in the pic, the stainless steel would be facing the pipes and the asbestos'y (know it's not, but looks like it) back would be facing the servo rather than the heat source. Tried all orientations, and couldn't see it fitting any other way. Presumably it's shielding the heat though?

I agree with others Malcolm I don’t think you have the correct part there.

I have SS down pipes and can still fit a shield on the inner side of the frame.

Hopefully we can have a look and compare notes at Wroxhall on Sunday.

Mine gets an MOT tomorrow and a pickup from the engine builder on Saturday. Fingers crossed!

Cheers

David, understand now having re-read. Am I right in saying that the shiny side would then be towards the servo, and fibre side towards the downpipes?

Ok, thanks. Think I can do that with the (wrong) part I have, with a few mods!
