Hi All, hope your all having a great start 2020.

Some help please. I have owned my E type for 40 years, its a very rare car. One registered owner from new, only covered 50K miles from new. its original, not restored and in fantastic condition.
full history, original Bill of sale, very rare plate.

it was my intension to ship the car to Australia upon my retirement, but they have implemented a zero asbestos rule, meaning i would have to take the head off, remove exhaust gaskets, remove from tunnel also drop out the rear suspension. I think its all to difficult, so I think the best thing is to sell and purchase a car in Australia.

i would ask where people in the know think I should advertise this rare beauty for sale ?

Hi Baz...If the car is special to you it shouldnt be very difficult to remove any asbestos..there isnt much....a few heat shields, possibly brake pads if old ....cant think of anything else...Steve

Possibly the clutch, gaskets, the rear crankshaft seal, plus likely several other areas beyond what you’ve already covered. Some underseal has asbestos in it too. It’s scary how prevalent it can be in old cars.

Hi Baz,
indeed the car must be very special to you. With this history I would not even think about selling. Unless you buy a completely nut and bolt restored example, sooner or later you will have to replace the clutch and rear pads anyway, let alone other hidden problems. So better to do the work on your beloved original car.
And there is a question: how are they going to judge if there is hidden asbestos?
