Bonnet springs

Hi Gents,
Has anyone got an ingenious idea for stretching 4 bonnet springs simultaneously for the purpose of painting? I’ve thought of a wooden jig with threaded rods and nuts but if anyone has a better solution...
They’ve been sandblasted and I’m proposing to paint them with POR15 Top Coat Chassis Black.

An obsessive detailer you are. I get it.

I did exactly as you suggested when painting mine. Even used it to finalize blasting between the coils.

Just made a simple frame from 2"x2" scrap wood and used longish threaded J hooks (found at the local hardware store) through drilled holes in the frame. Tightened nuts allowed the springs to stretch enough for good paint coverage and drying.

Perfect Steve, we’re on the same page. I should have most of that in stock too - and lots of spare time :(
Balance links along with latches and front suspension sent off for cad plating.

I recently posted on the S1 thread about this very topic. In short, springs beadblasted then wire brushed with springs stretched, etch primed and then top coated (with the latter left for 2-3 days to harden off prior to releasing the springs). Just a touch-up then required to paint where the connecting wires were. I got them back onto the car asap after painting so the paint could continue to cure in the stretched open position with the bonnet closed.
