#1 New head light kit series 1

Post by Harveysearle » Wed May 27, 2020 7:36 pm

Hi there
If anyone can help me with advice.
Has anyone changed there headlights to series one fixed, on a series 2 bonnet. Mine is a series 1.5
Series 2 bonett and a 1 everywhere else.
So want to get a kit. What’s the best one, and is it possible to do.

Thank you

Harvey

Have to admit, I'm really starting to like the 1.5 a lot! And I have two covered series 1s.

I did the change over. I have a 68. Managed to buy a set original covered lights from ebay 7 years back. Monocoque metalworks sells the surrounds that you have to weld in. You do have to do some welding though. I managed not to have to repaint the whole car or not even the bonnet. Just spot repair respray with a custom aerosol around the lights and then blemished it out with Commandant4 and polish. Great result. It was a significant job to do anyway. Took me 3 days to make it look good. Here is a pic.

I think it might be possible to just use pop rivets to fix the inserts from MMW .
