#1 ITG and K&N air filter oil

Post by carlv12 » Mon Jan 31, 2011 9:29 am

Hello,

do K&N cotton air filters and ITG foam air filters use the same oil?

Thank you and best regards from Valencia

Carlos

ITG filters do not use or need oil in fact doing so will impair their effectiveness. If they get dirty you can wash them either in a suitable solvent (paraffin or petrol) or in a bowl of soapy water. K&N filters are a different matter and you should follow the makers instructions.

Hello David,

please read THIS:

http://www.itgairfilters.com/downloads/ ... .10.10.pdf

There you can read the exact instructions how to OIL your ITG FOAM filter!!! Therefore I did not ask if I must oil the foam filter, but if I can use the same oil like for the K&N cotton filters.

What is correct then?

Regards

Carlos

Carlos

Thanks for that. I use a Megaflow filter which came pre treated and I have never had cause to wash it or renew the oil hence my comments. Never realised ITG even sold the cleaners/re-oilers. A quick look on the ITG web site does say "Under no circumstances use cotton gauze filter oil, engine oil or any other oil not specifically manufactured for foam air filters." Maybe I should consider giving my filter a service!
