#1 WARNING WARNING SC Parts delivery delays because of Brexit!

Post by Bigcatfrankie » Sat Feb 13, 2021 6:22 pm

In case anyone is thinking of ordering any items from SC Parts I thought it would be sensible to make you aware that, because all their parts are shipped out from Germany, Brexit is causing considerable delays.
I thought I would take advantage of their 20% discount or price-match offer during January, so put in an order on 7 January for my last big order of parts................he says stupidly! (mainly interior chrome trim bits and door & window seals).
According to the tracking of the 6kg package with UPS parcel couriers the label was created on 13 January and it was eventually shipped from Herne-Boernig, Germany to the UK on 9 February.
It's travels were not over yet however as it was delivered to the UPS depot in Tamworth twice and to their Bury St.Edmunds depot twice before arriving at my home in Cambridgeshire at 12.25 today!
Unfortunately the package had been insufficiently sealed and at least one of the items, possibly two, had been lost in transit from a gaping hole!

Perhaps the moral of this story is to make sure that you know where the parts you are ordering are actually coming from OR don't order from SC Parts if you are in any hurry!

I have recently sold an expansion tank on Ebay to a chap in Sweden and it has been returned twice. The carrier
(Parcel Hero) now states they do not carry car parts. I have used this service before with no problems and talking to someone else he said he has had the same problem . Bryan S1 4.2

Again I fail to see that either postal problems had anything to do with Brexit
Maybe if you could find out exactly why there was such a long time between your order, it being packaged up and posted?
Could be any reason for it
Once damaged due to poor packaging items tend to get lost or pinged around inside the system
This could be part of the problem
I send lots of parcels all over Europe and haven't had any serious issues recently
Covid has definitely had an effect but its got better over the last week or so
I lost a compact overdrive here in the uk a couple of months back when it had Been incorrectly addressed "my hermes"
UPS are one of the best usually
But there are some that are very poor like my hermes and sadly royal mail 2nd class
As to car parts, there has indeed been a recent change in carriers terms and conditions for some items with some carriers
But not all
Having said that always check the small print when sending items
Parcel2go tend to tell you its prohibited when you fill in the form on thier website for the carrier you have chosen

I am not sure how many of us in the UK would think of ordering from SC Parts anyway. SNGB and Hutsons seem to have everything without penalties on returns or cancelled orders.

Unfortunately there are massive issues at EU customs.

I had 2 rolls shipped by DPD from UK to Poland. After 2 weeks they were returned back to BAS as the invoice in this consignment was attached to one roll only.
What's more interesting is that DPD NL is requesting VAT for packages they have already returned back to the UK. I get a remainder e-mail about it every day....

There is a message here somewhere. Shop in the UK for all your parts. The second point is that I used SC once, and the experience was horrendous. Never again!

I too must express disatisfaction with SC Parts' service. I have not had any dealings with them for several years since saying "never again". It would appear that not a lot has changed over the years.
