#1 Reaction valve - again !

Post by genneton4 » Sun Aug 08, 2021 3:51 pm

Hi, can any members tell me if it is possible to take apart the brake reaction valve (the white bit) and lubricate it (including the MC plunger)... without bleeding the brakes again. I don't really want to bleed the back brakes again (they are so difficult and I don't have a remote bleed setup).
I have searched and searched but can't find a yeah or nay to whether this is possible. I can't quite work out where the dry bit and fluid bits meet. Some say take out plunger and plug the hole whilst cleaning it. ?

Went PK Thornton 'open day' yesterday and they couldn't tell me.

Help .. or should I just dive in see where it leaves me.

Brakes don't release immediately (hot or cold) after braking. I'm almost sure it's vacuum related.

Yes you can. We do it all the time. Just make sure you plug the end of of the master when you have removed the piston otherwise brake fluid will escape.

Hi Keith.....you may find it diffucult to remove the small piston......if you press the brake pedal a bit it will fly out...so put a rag over it to catch it.......Steve

Just to update. All sorted. It was the reaction valve. I took the old one apart and it all looked good, no rust or anything. I greased it up and it was a little better. I wasn't happy with the snap fit putting it back together so I bought a new one. The new one had a lot, lot, lot more spring pressure that the old one. So, I guess that's it.
Thanks for all input
