OEM shocks

I just received a frt set of OEM shocks from SNG. These are made in Turkey. When I tested them out of the box the upper part of the shock or dust cover started to move downward as I compressed it with no resistance what-so-ever? I tried to pull out and compress again (these are oil filled) the upper part of the shock would move again about an 11/2 to 2 ins before feeling any resistance. I don't know if this was a valid test but they felt like shocks that were worn out? I sent them back with no problem as poor quality. Has anyone used these? The price was very reasonable under 55 us. Maybe the manufacturer in Turkey is not up to power? Best Regards

Sometimes the shocks need to be cycled a few times before correct operation as the oil can settle in one part if they have ben stored on their side or upside down for some time.

They only dampen movement - they are not springs.
Logic says they ought to provide some resistance to movement if they are stored upright or mostly upright....

Again thanks for the information but I did not want to mount the shocks and find out they were not up to standards. The two alternatives for series 3 are Spax and Gaz shocks. I have had no experience with these. The ones I have are original Girlings. Thanks for any comments. Best Regards
