#1 Valve clearances

Post by dlgis » Sat Mar 26, 2022 11:05 am

I think I know the answer to this, but I’ll ask anyway  we measured the inlet valve clearances on my 3.8 and they are all under 4 thou. They were mostly 2thou, a 3 and a 1.5. This was done with the engine cold. The engine was rebuilt about 3000 miles ago and having done a compression test it seems good apart from some oil leaks. Compression was 3x180, 2x175 and 1 in the middle. I’ll check the cam cap torque settings on Monday, but assuming they are ok I presume the advice is to get the clearances to spec ??

Yes, that's what I'd do.
