Powerbulge grille fitting

I’m having trouble with this, do the 2 bottom lugs fit below or above the metal bar arrowed in the photo below? If they fit below it looks like the grille will interfere with the closing lip on the bulkhead. And there’s no way it will go above the metal bar. Not sure it the bulge has an incorrect profile or it the aftermarket (Martin Robey) grille is the wrong shape? The bonnet hasn’t had a grille since it was made up several year’s ago.

Is your bonnet the original that came with the car, I know that on some replacement bonnets the bracket that fixes that grill was welded the wrong way round and causes the grill to protrude further than it should.

I think the grille bolts in from below, mine certainly does.

Hi Danny, no it’s a replacement that the guy who restored the car about 7 years ago made up from a mix of new and old parts (I think ?) so we have had to do some work to it when fitting the new radiator and stoneguard. This may well be due to the quality of replacement bits. There are no holes currently to fit the grille so we’d need to drill those and if fitted it looks like the shape of the grille would push up the centre of the powerbulge metalwork if the locating screws were fully tightened. The bulge is also wider than the grille itself by quite a bit
