"Did you insulate on top of transmission with the old sponge padding?"

I hope they did as I received the car back buttoned up.

Guy supplied me with an original looking gear knob with the reverse in the correct place as I didn't like the steel one.

If it were my car, I'd want an original black eight ball looking knob with 5th gear and reverse in the correct orientation.

A few years ago, I had a leather "Jaguar" shift knob with the Growler on top and took my car to my local club Concours and lost a point (in the Driven Class) for having a "non-authentic shift knob" (I still took 1st place) but took that knob off the next day and put the eight ball back on, the next year no point deducted for the shift knob.....but the eagle eyed judges found another point elsewhere....LOL

Kind of a sad day today…..
Most remember Johnny Farrell who was a champion for Jaguar and our Etypes
When he got sick 4 years ago he sold his shipping containers of ALL Nos jaguar parts to a gent overseas.
Now that Johnny and his wife have both past his son wanted me to stop by as he can’t store the pieces he kept as the house is going up for sale.
They will all be displayed proudly in the barn over time
Miss you my friend

Tomorrow I will post the insulation pad as we wrap up waiting for the covers and then the center console issues.
It will be nice when done.

I recieved the SNG insulation pad.
The back end had to be cut out because of the different shift design but I think it will work real well with keeping noise down for the bulk of the main section.
I cut out a path for the reverse light so it doesn’t rub or chaff
By Monday we should have all the covers done and installed!
Getting close!😀

Not sure it was supplied by Guy Broad at my request instead of the stainless they had on there.

Thanks
Will call them on Monday!
Anyone have a suggestion while this is out about rear speakers?
Something small and not in the way?

You can fit rear speakers in the spaces in the rear quarter panel:

There is a post here somewhere describing what you need to do. Basically you make a plywood panel to attach the speaker to then mount the panel to the bodywork. Backfill the void with acoustic wadding to improve the sound. Very neat installation when complete. Will try and find the details for you. Angus Moss pioneered this one IIRC.

Need some sort of grill too. this may require cutting some upholstery?

You can use a pair of 3.8 speaker grills to hide them.

Also there are a couple of holes in the A post footwell where you can fit 4" speakers. Just a matter of cutting the hardua to shape. Again acoustic wadding is required to fill the void behind the speakers.

I had speakers fitted the Splined Hub, in the sides just behind the seats. They 3D print a grill which in this case is covered in black fabric. Oliver can do the grills colour coded to your trim colour, I believe.

This is a super thread thanks Joey, just wish I could afford a good 5 speed box.

Wow!
All great ideas!
I love the 3.8 look but also the speaker in the cut outs!
I also thought where the outlet covers to the pump and filler hose , but I’m liking that cutout so much better
Gtjoey
Thanks guys

I fitted speakers into the cubby holes as well, as part of my hidden Bluetooth amp setup. I purchased some stainless steel mesh from Amazon to cover them, to match the speaker grills in the centre console.
You can only see the speakers if you shine a light/flash on them.
